Syed Mushtaq Trophy T20: Delhi outplay J&K, Parvez led team tastes 3rd defeat

For J&K Parvez top scored with 37 while as Pranav made 22. The next top scorer was Waseem Raza who made 11. For Delhi Pawan Negi took three wickets while as Pradeep Sangwan and N Saini took two wickets each.

The below par batting followed by dismal bowling performance led to Jammu and Kashmir team suffering third consecutive T20 defeat at the hands of Delhi in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy match at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium New Delhi on Friday.

J&K batting first were kept to below par total of 100 runs for the loss of nine wickets in allotted  20 overs. In reply Delhi made quick work of the target, achieving it in 11.3 overs for the loss of only two wickets, thanks to superb knock played by Rishabh Pant.

Earlier put into bat first, J&K got off to worst possible start as they lost both their openers Ahmad Banday and Jatin Wadhwan with score on zero .

Soon Ian Dev became third wicket to fall in inning with J&K score on 15.Skipper Parvez Rasool who made 37 off 26, and Pranav Gupta, the No. 3 batsman, put on a partnership of 49 for the fourth wicket.

However once that partnership was broken another procession started with ultimately J&K making it to 100 runs for the loss of nine wickets in allotted overs.

With another dismal batting performance, team would have been hoping to put on respectable show while bowling. But their hopes were soon dashed by the free flowing opening duo of Delhi Rishabh Pant and  Sarthak Ranjan. They put on 77-run opening stand between them. Pant smashed a 33-ball 51, with seven fours and two sixes, before he was sent back by Parvez Rasool, who also accounted for Ranjan (31 off 20) in the same over. However, Parvez’s strikes came too late, and Himmat Singh and Lalit Yadav knocked off the remaining runs.

It was third consecutive defeat for J&K in this seasons North Zone leg of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 event. In the previous two matches J&K were defeated by Services and Himachal Pradesh by nine-wickets and 33 runs respectively.

For the third match, J&K had got into middle with three changes, Jatin Wadhwan, Shubham Singh Pundir and Pranav Gupta had come in for Bandeep Singh, Owais Shah and Shubham Khajuria. J&K will now playing its fourth match of the campaign on Saturday against Haryana.
