With a view to encourage young budding talents in Martial Arts and promote a culture of sports among the youth, the army organised North Kashmir Taekwondo Championship 2018 at Naidkhai Sports Ground on  Monday, an army spokesman said in a statement.

He said, “More than 520 players from four districts i.e. Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal& Srinagar participated in the event under various categories and showcased their talent.

The main highlight of the event was a demonstration on Self Defense and Disarmament. Defence tactics for gun point hostage situation was also demonstrated for the audience. “

He said, “A over 1700 spectators from different areas graced the occasion. Voluntary participation of significant number of youth from different areas of north & central Kashmir indicates the growing talent in Martial Arts.”
