Some of the students of the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) of Rajouri on Monday boycotted their classes to mourn the death of their university mate Eesa Fazili.

Fazili, who was pursuing engineering at the varsity, had joined militancy last year. He was killed on Monday in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, along with two associates in a gunfight with security forces.

Sources at the varsity said most of the university students hailing from Kashmir Valley remained absent from their classes. They also held a funeral prayer in absentia for Fazili, whose funeral in Soura area of Srinagar was attended by thousands of people.
