Mendhar banks witness rush as ATMs run out of cash

Masses in Rajouri district are suffering as most of the ATMs of different banks are running dry with unavailability of cash.

Locals of the area informed Greater Kashmir that most of the ATMs in the district, even including in Rajouri town and on district headquarter, are devoid of cash for last around five days. 

"Hardly any ATMs has cash and we have either to move to our account branch to withdraw cash manually or have to wait in queues for hours infront of any ATM having cash " Suneet K Sharma said

He also added that ATM is one of the basic requirement of today's world and such poor state of affairs on the part of banks is a cause of concern for all.

"We have heard that there is shortage in supply of cash from higher levels " another local Rahul Sharma said.

"I went to purchase medicines for father and was to withdraw cash from ATM and visited all ATMs in Rajouri district and not even one was providing cash " Rahul added.

Meanwhile,  a bank official, wishing anonymity told Greater Kashmir that there is some shortage in supply of cash from main chest which has led to this problem.

Banks in Mendhar sub division are also witnessing huge rush of customers as all the ATMs in the without cash for last five to six days leaving people in a state of lurch. 

Locals of the area have raised serious concern over this raising questions on silence mode of concerned authorities.  

They said that hundreds of people can be seen standing in queues inside banks to withdraw cash manually and concerned authorities should take note of it.  

"Adequate cash should be refilled in ATMs so that problem being faced by people come to end " a local said. 

He informed that people were standing in queue inside State Bank of India branch Mendhar even at 5 PM.
