Jammu and Kashmir: Schools closed as LoC heats up in Poonch

Deputy Commissioner Poonch tariq Zargar told Greater Kashmir that the schools have been closed today in view of cross-border firing and shelling.

Authorities ordered the closure of schools located near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonnch district of jammu and Kashmir on Friday as the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged heavy fire and shelling.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch tariq Zargar told Greater Kashmir that the schools have been closed today in view of cross-border firing and shelling.

He said that the people were also asked to shift to safer places but they are reluctant to leave.

Earlier, the armies of both the countries resorted to massive shelling in Degwar and Karmara sectors along the LoC.

There was no immediate report of any losses or casualties.

An army soldier and a porter working with the army were killed in firing from across the border yesterday.
