Boy injured in Poonch explosion

A teenage boy today got critically injured when a live mortar shell lying in the ground exploded.

Police sources identified him as Muhammad Iqbal son of Muhammad Rashid of Islamabad, aged about 13 years.

The incident took place at Bandi Chechian near a bridge.

As per official reports, the boy found something lying in the fields and as soon as he fiddled with it, a powerful explosion took place.

"Both the hands of the boy got severed while his face also got damaged in the explosion" said police sources.

He was later rushed to district hospital Poonch where doctors treated him and later referred to GMC&H Jammu via road.

His condition is stated to be very critical.

Meanwhile, family members alleged that boy got injured in fresh ceasefire violation of Pakistan.

On the other hand, locals of the area alleged that injured boy remained in a pool of blood for more than an hour and was evacuated from the area by locals of their own.

"Health department as well as security agencies including police didn't act timely and we shifted the boy of our own," locals alleged.
