In view of intermittent ceasefire violation in Nowshera sector the more people are moving to relief camps taking the total number to 3361. There are 839 families   residing in relief camps established by the District Administration.

These include 1053 male adults, 1049 women and 1259 children drawn from villages Sarya, Khamba, Anwas-Bhandar, Bhawani and Kanet while thousands of people affected by cross-border firing in areas of Lam, Laroka, Pukherni are still residing in their villages where district administration has made a frequent outreach for addressing the problems faced by residents.

SDM Nowshera Harbans Lal and Tehsildar Reyaz Hussain along with camp officers including BDO Nowshera and BDO Qila Darhal are making arrangements at all the 5 camps established and monitoring the provisions and essential services round the clock.

Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary who visited the forward areas in Nowshera and Manjakote informed that such a huge number of migrants in camps now for nearly 40 days poses a challenge for administration to provide basic services however the teams of officers are putting in their best efforts to run the camps smoothly where every facility has been provided. He added that a detailed exercise has been conducted for initiating construction of individual bunkers through community involvement. He appreciated the cooperation extended by the village committees for smooth management of camps and providing basic amenities.

Joint teams of departments have also assessed the losses including crops, livestock, houses and schools. Relief has been provided to such families through DBT while in death cases the DLCC is scheduled to meet on 22nd June for providing ex-gratia relief to NOK of dead and to injured in addition to cash relief already provided. SDM Nowshera has initiated a number of measures at relief camps which include sports activities and competitions, informal education and social exercises.
