Vohra inaugurates ` 9 crore Nivedita-II nurses’ hostel block

Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, inaugurated the Nivedita-II Nurses’ Hostel at Kakryal.

The building has been constructed by the Shrine Board at a cost of Rs. 9 crore to cater to the residential requirements of the nurses of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, a statement here said. 

H. L. Maini, Justice (Retd) Permod Kohli and Maj Gen (Retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma, board members; Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Jitendra Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board were among others present on the occasion.

The governor had a round of the various floors of the building and inspected the facilities provided for the Hostel inmates. 

He directed CEO Shrine Board for ensuring effective day to day maintenance of this newly created facility and also arrange adequate provision for harnessing rain water and solar energy.

Work on the construction of 6-storey Nivedita-II, taken up in October 2016, has been completed within 11 months by the Civil Engineering Wing of the Shrine Board. This Hostel, equipped with all modern facilities, comprises 60 double occupancy residential rooms with attached pantries and toilets, one common room, a store room on each floor, a dining room on the ground floor which can accommodate 60 persons at a time, recreation room, sitting lounge, manager’s room and entrance foyer also on the ground floor. 

The total plinth area of the building is 6160 sft while its total covered area is 37000 sft.

The building is equipped with 2 lifts and 2 stairs. Provision has also been kept in the building for installation of solar photo voltaic unit to make it energy efficient. Besides, double-line plumbing system has been put in place in which the recycled water from sewerage treatment plant has been used for flushing and gardening purposes.      

Among others present on the occasion were: Dr. V. Verma, Dean SMVDU; Dr. (Brig.) M. M.  Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, SSH Kakryal and Administrator of the Nursing College; Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College of Nursing; Dr. Suneet Marwah, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDNSH; Manu Ramachandar, Facility Director; medicos and senior executives of the Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal; other civil, police and Shrine Board officers, concerned engineers, faculty and staff  of the Nursing College.
