SKIMS faculty pay tributes to Dr Naseer Shah

The faculty at SKIMS today expressed profound grief over the demise of Prof (Dr) Syed Naseer Ahmad Shah, the former principal of Government Medical College, Srinagar. He died on Wednesday.  

The faculty termed the deceased as one of the pioneers in bringing about high standards in the medical education in Jammu & Kashmir. 

Born in the remote village of Teetwal in Kupwara district of Kashmir the deceased “rose to the coveted position of principal GMC Srinagar,” the faculty in a statement said. 

“It was in recognition of his services in the field of medical education, health care and social sector, that the deceased was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honours.  

“He was loved by one and all for his noble conduct and dedication to the cause of deprived and the underprivileged,” the faculty said

The faculty prayed for the peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this loss.

 

Condolence meeting held at GMC Srinagar 

A meeting was held at GMC Srinagar to condole the demise of Prof Syed Naseer Ahmad Shah, former principal/dean GMC Srinagar. 

Prof Samia Rashid, principal/dean GMC Srinagar chaired the meeting which was attended by faculty , students, medical superintendents, paramedics and staff of GMC.  

Prof Sajjad Qazi, president MFA, Dr Mufti Mahmood, general secretary MFA, Prof Parvez Shah, HoD medicine and principal GMC paid rich tributes to the deceased, a statement here said.

The members described him as a “doyen of medicine, an able administrator and a visionary who upgraded the teaching standards of GMC Srinagar and steered it to the pinnacle of glory.” 

The members prayed for the departed soul and shared the grief of his family.
