As the protesting teachers began to march on residency road in protest, police deployed at the spot swung into action and dispersed the protesting teachers by using colored water canon on them.

Police on Tuesday used force to thwart teachers’ march towards Governor NN Vohra’s official residence Raj Bhawan here. 

Hundreds of teachers had assembled at Sher-i-Kashmir Park near Polo View here under the banner of  JK Teachers Forum and were protesting against government’s failure to implement 7th pay commission for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and head teachers in schools.

The proetsting teachers also demanding de-linking of their salary from MHRD funds. 

As the protesting teachers began to march on residency road in protest, police deployed at the spot swung into action and dispersed the protesting teachers by using colored water canon on them.

Also, dozens of protesting teachers including union leaders were bundled in police vehicle and lodged at Kothi  Bagh Police station.
