Tributes paid to G M Bulla

Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) today paid rich tributes to Ghulam Muhammad Bulla on his anniversary being observed on 15 February. 

 “On February 11, 1975 Bulla registered strong protest against the infamous Indra-Abdullah accord in Sopore Chowk. On the same day, he was arrested and severely tortured. He was immediately shifted to Srinagar Central jail.  Bulla’s woes did not end in the jail as well. The torture continued and Bulla fell seriously ill. Instead of providing medicare to him, the jail authorities continued to torture him. Finally, the incessant physical torture proved fatal and Bulla succumbed on February 15, 1975,”the DFP spokesman, in a statement today, said.

 “Shaheed Bulla was a brave young Kashmiri and remained committed to the cause of Kashmir’s freedom till his last breath. It was after his martyrdom that the youths of Kashmir started their indigenous struggle which bore fruits in the next two decades. His day of martyrdom is remembered every year and people pay tribute to him, proving that people of Kashmir have not given up their demand for political rights,” the spokesman said.

He said, “A native of north Kashmir’s Sopore, Ghulam Muhammad Bulla had close associations with Shaheed S Hamid and incarcerated JKDFP chief Shabir Ahmad Shah.”

Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) leaders Shabir Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Ahsaan Untoo, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi and Ghulam Nabi War have also paid glowing tributes to Ghulam Muhammad Bulla of Sopore on his 43th anniversary.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (PL) chairman Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, in a statement today from Islamabad (Pakistan) also paid rich tributes to G M Bulla on his 43rd anniversary.
