Teachers stage sit-in protest in Srinagar to press for demands

The forum has already announced two-day lockdown of schools upto middle classes on August 20 and 21 as a mark of protest against the government''s "indifferent attitude" to address their demands.

Scores of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers have gathered inside the premises of directorate of school education Kashmir (DSEK) to press for their pending demands.

The teachers have staged a peaceful protest under the banner of JK Rehbar-e- Taleem teachers forum (JKReTTF) and are demanding benefits of 7th pay Commission and de-linking of their salary from MHRD funding.

The forum has already announced two-day lockdown of schools upto middle classes on August 20 and 21 as a mark of protest against the government's "indifferent attitude" to address their demands.

The forum has threatened to intensify their protest if government failed to resolve their issue.
