Unidentified gunmen on Monday shot at and injured a man in Shopian district of south Kashmir.

He was shifted to District Hospital Pulwama for treatment.

Reports said that Bhat was hit by a bullet in his leg.

A police officer said that Bhat was not linked to any political party.

Soon after the incident, government forces cordoned off the area to nab the assailants.

Yesterday, a woman and a non-local vendor were killed by unknown gunmen in Tral and Bijbehara areas respectively.

Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has condemned the killings of innocent civilians, saying they could prove detrimental to freedom movement in Kashmir.

Commenting over civilian killings in Tral and Arwani, Geelani said that in armed confrontation between warring groups, the casualties are expected, however killing innocents neither serves any purpose for the movement, nor does it suit to our ethical values," a statement quoted Geelani as saying.
