SHRC recommends compensation in 65 cases since last year

The commission was defunct for two years. It started functioning in November 2016 after Justice (retired) Bilal Nazki took over as its chairperson SHRC.

The State Human Rights Commission has recommended to the government to pay compensation to the aggrieved in 65 of the 789 cases it has received since last year.

The commission was defunct for two years. It started functioning in November 2016 after Justice (retired) Bilal Nazki took over as its chairperson SHRC.

The recommendation for ex-gratia relief/compensation has been made in 27 cases since Nov 2016 to 30 Nov 2017, recommendation for compassionate appointment (SR0-43) in nine cases, and death compensation in 10 cases.

The commission has made eight recommendations in the cases of disappeared persons, four in the cases of land issues, one in a harassment case, and six recommendations in other cases.

Since its inception, the commission has till Nov 30 of this year made1759 recommendations. Of the total 7295 cases received since its inception, the commission has disposed of 6424 cases while 871 complaints are pending before the commission. From Nov 2016 till November this year, the commission disposed of 1019 cases.
