Police register FIR against soldier, 'rumour monger'

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday lodged a case against a soldier of 4-JAKLI for thrashing a boy during a cricket match at Uri in Baramulla district.

The accused, a source said, is a local resident. “Two local boys fought with each other over some issue during a cricket match in Uri,” said a source.

He said the accused who happens to be the relative of one of the boys intervened and thrashed Syed Danish.  Acting on the complaint, the Uri police have registered a case against the accused.

Meanwhile, senior superintendent of police Baramulla, ImtiyazHussain said the incident is being sensationalised. “It was a local issue in which local boys had some dispute with each other. Attempt was made by some rumour mongers to tarnish the image of the army. We have registered a case against the rumour monger in connection with the incident” said Hussain.
