J&K police Saturday urged their counterparts in Odisha to intensify efforts in tracing out a missing Kashmiri student pursuing MBBS course at AIIMS medical college in Bhubaneswar.

Suhail Ejaz Kataria son of Ajaz Ahmad Kataria from Marsari Chowkibal village of north Kashmir's Kupwara district went missing from the college hostel in Bhubaneswar on February 9 and remains untraced to date, according to his relatives.

"The deputy commissioner police Bhubaneswar assured that they will spare no efforts to trace out the missing student at the earliest," Shamsher Hussian, SP Kupwara told Greater Kashmir.

"The Bhubaneswar police have recovered two hand written notes from the hostel room of the missing boy. The police are looking into various angles to get necessary leads and intensify search to locate the missing boy," Hussain said he was told by the police officer.

The district police chief said he assured the relatives who visited him today all possible support in tracing out the whereabouts of missing student.

"I spoke to the father of the missing boy, who is presently staying at Bhubaneswar and assured all possible help from Jammu and Kashmir police in locating his son," Hussian added.

The district police Kupwara was in continuous contact with the higher authorities of police in Bhubaneswar and father of the missing boy to ensure he is traced at the earliest, he said.

The family lost contact with Ejaz on February 7, a day after they deposited money into his bank account, sources said.
