PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said she was not shocked by the exit of her alliance partner BJP in Jammu and Kashmir government.

She said that the motive of PDP to form the government with the BJP was to preserve the special status of the state and build an atmosphere of reconciliation.

“I am not shocked (by BJP exit). We didn't do this alliance for power. This alliance had a bigger motive- unilateral ceasefire, PM's visit to Pakistan, withdrawal of cases against 11,000 youth,” she said while addressing reporters at her Gupkar residence.

Earlier, BJP state-in-charge Ram Madhav announced the party’s exit from the alliance, saying it was untenable to continue in the government.
