Life returned to normal in south Kashmir areas on Monday after a three-day shutdown to mourn the killing of three militants and two civilians. However, shutdown continued in Kulgam, Pampore and Heff on the fourth consecutive day.

Kulgam is the home district of slain Lashkar commander Junaid Mattoo.

Shops and other business establishments opened in Pulwama and Shopian. However, they remained shut in Pam Heff and adjoining villages in Shopian to mourn the killing of LeT militant Nasir.

Shutdown was also observed in Pampore tehsil on 4th consecutive day against the killing of local militant Aadil. Shops, business establishments, government and private offices remain closed in the town while public transport was off the roads.

However, traffic was smoothly plying on Srinagar-Jammu highway amid massive deployment of forces.

Reports said people from different areas visited Pampore to offer prayers for the slain militant. Colorful banners carrying the photographs of Adil Mir have been erected on his house.

On the entrance of his graveyard, another banner is erected carrying the photos of his childhood.

Many religious scholars, pro-freedom leaders and locals thronged Adil’s residence in Frestbal to express sympathy and solidarity with his family.
