Burglars posing as dervishes trick women

Burglars posing as faith healers stole golden ornaments from a residential house in Kangan area of district Ganderbal district Thursday afternoon. Officials and locals said that two burglars came in a white colour Alto car. “One of them entered into the residential house of Muhammad Ashraf Bhat of Katchnambal, Kangan at around 12:30 PM. He introduced himself as a dervish to the two females present in the house,” locals said.

They said he befooled the females into believing that there was black magic in the golden ornaments present in their house. He told them it would be warded off only by producing the ornaments before them. They said the females fell into his trap and produced seven gold rings, a gold necklace and some other gold ornaments. They said he played some trick and fled from the scene taking the ornaments along.

Ashiq Husain, incharge SHO Kangan told Greater Kashmir that they are on job to get the details. "We have sent a police party on the spot to gather the information," the SHO said.
