Jammu and Kashmir government has started the recruitment process for 2014 posts in border battalions.

According to a government order No. 1534 dated Nov 6, 2018, Home department in consultation with PHQ has formulated a proposal to raise two border battalions of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

It adds that the proposal was forwarded to Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

It said that sanction for raising two border battalions of Jammu and Kashmir Police has been  granted but the recruitment for the posts should be strictly from the youth living in the areas of 0-10 km from IB/LOC/AGPL/LAC and should also be equally divided amongst the 10 border districts of J&K.

As far as recruitment for the posts from Leh and Kargil is concerned this criteria may be suitably relaxed if sufficient number of youths are not available from 0-10 km of AGPL/LAC/LOC.
