The new head of the BJP state unit Ravinder Raina has dared the Muzaffarabad-based Hizbul Mujahideen chief commander Syed Salahuddin to come back to Kashmir and fight elections, to prove that he was a leader.

Arriving in the city from Srinagar to a warm welcome at the party’s office, Raina said the “conditional ceasefire” announced by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh was an opportunity for militants to give up arms “and come in the mainstream.”

“The union government, by announcing ceasefire, has provided an opportunity to the misguided youth to give up arms and join the mainstream,” Raina said while talking to reporters at the party’s office in Trikuta Nagar.

He said that this is also an opportunity for Sayed Salahudin to come back and join the mainstream. “Why do you (Salahudin) run in Pakistan or any other country, if you say that you are leader of Jammu and Kashmir then come back here in the mainstream and prove that by fighting elections,” Raina said.

He however, said that the forces will hit back with full force if they are attacked. “This is not a unilateral ceasefire but conditional,” Raina said while adding, “Forces will not fire the first bullet but If they are attacked, then they will hit back with full force and our jawans will then not count the bullets”.

Earlier, Raina was welcomed by the party workers and leaders by chanting slogans “Jai Shri Ram-Jai Shri Ram”. In his address, Raina said that only issue in Jammu and Kashmir is the liberation of territory occupied by China and Pakistan and “We will get that territory back”.

He said, “PAJK, Gilgit, Baltisatan, Mirpur, Kotli and other areas occupied by Pakistan and China are part of Jammu and Kashmir and the people living there are our own,” and added, “We are committed to get those areas back”.

He said that upholding the national tricolor in Jammu and Kashmir will be his topmost priority. “We will never forget the sacrifice of Shyama Parsad Mukherjee,” Raina said adding, “Our only aim is our motherland and upholding our tricolor in Jammu and Kashmir”. He said, “The tricolor crossed Lakhanpur and came to Jammu and Kashmir only due to the sacrifice of BJP workers and Shyama Parsad Mukherjee”.

He also remembered Mohd Maqbool Sherwani for his sacrifice in Baramullah Kashmir while fighting Pakistani forces. He said that he will carry forward the mission of Praja Parishad, Pt Prem Nath Dogra, Thakur Baldev Singh, Daya Krishan Kotwal, Chaman Lal Gupta and others.
