Renowned Pediatricians of Jammu here on Monday in an orientation workshop pledged their support for measles rubella campaign starting in the state from September 2018.

The event was organised by directorate of family welfare, MCH and immunization J&K.

 As per press information, the speakers at the workshop informed that in Jammu and Kashmir around 43 lakh children will be covered under this campaign and it will be a massive effort which will require partnership at all the levels.

At the workshop, all participating Pediatricians solicited their support for the campaign and asserted it will help to prevent children from the measles and rubella virus infection.

It is pertinent to mention, measles is a highly infectious disease which can cause death of infants and young children, Rubella Infection in pregnant women disables a child for life with congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) that may result in deafness, blindness and heart defects.

The workshop was chaired by Dr Rekha Harish, professor  and  head of department of Pediatrics SMGHS hospital Jammu.

Dr L D Bhagat assistant director family welfare Jammu, Dr Sanjay Turki CMO Jammu, Dr Sunil Dutt president IAP Jammu Chapter, Dr GS Sani professor department of Pediatrics SMGHS Hospital and Dr D B Gupta were also present on the occasion.
