Ridiculing the Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah, Pradesh Congress Committee of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday thanked BJP for “admitting its failures” in the state.

“The BJP has failed to fulfil its poll promises and the aspirations of people. We are saying this form last three years but thanks to BJP president Amit Shah, who admitted it during a public rally yesterday,” said PCC president Ghulam Ahmad Mir in a press conference here.

Rubbishing claims of Shah that PDP did not allowed development in Jammu and Ladakh, despite receiving overwhelming support from union government, Mir said, “No one in J&K buys this theory of BJP.”

“For last three years, BJP tried to get all the credit for the development in the state. They were yelling from the rooftops, claiming that development in the state happened in the last three years only and congress has done nothing in past 70 years. But yesterday Amit Shah himself spoke the truth and buried all lies of BJP,” he said. “Shah listed BJP’s failures, point by point and admitted that they were not able to do anything, which exposed all lies of its state leaders.”

The state Congress chief said, “In Jammu and Kashmir, BJP might have only 25 members but they have backing of a powerful government in centre and whole country is behind them, so levelling allegations of failure on other party is just convenient way to escape from responsibility.”

“The BJP is bigger partner in coalition. They are the ones who has to give to states. Without BJP’s consent even a leaf cannot move in the state, so they openly lie about it,” he said.

Mir also alleged BJP for polarising the state for political gains.

“In Jammu rally Shah only talked about discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh but does not utter a single word on situation in Kashmir. People in the valley are also suffering because of misgovernance by BJP-PDP, which gave GST, demonetisation, and killings,” he said.

“Bifurcating the state may be convenient for BJP’s politics but Congress sees whole J&K as a unit. And the government failed in all three regions including Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” he said.

“Shah’s speech is an indication of polarising the state for upcoming polls, which I hope people of state understand and won’t allow mean politicians to divide them on communal and regional lines.”

On allegations on Congress leaders, Mir said, “Amit Shah is nobody to question credentials of Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad or Saifu-Din Soz.”

“Amit Shah is product of a communal incident. He should not question credentials of Rahul Gandhi, whose four generations have been in public service, even before independence.  His father and grandmother were victim of these miscreants. Nobody in Congress require certificate of nationalism from Amit Shah,” he said.
