Two major entrance examinations, J&K Sub Inspector written exam conducted by Police Recruitment Board (PRB) and BEd Jammu written exam conducted by J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) by (BOPEE), are both scheduled on June 24, creating a situation where the aspirants of both the exams have been left to make a hard choice.

As per reports, both the exams are scheduled to be held in the morning shift, 11 am onwards, leaving aspirants in lurch, who are frustrated and question the rationale behind the respective boards holding the examinations on the same day.

Pooja Sharma, an aspirant of both the exams, said, “Both the exams are important for me and I have prepared for both of them. The schedule has forced me to choose one, thereby wasting all my efforts, time and energy.”

“The boards should be aware about this unhealthy trend. Such clashes are a headache for candidates as it reduces our chances of being selected in either. I no longer have a back-up plan,” said Aman Singh, another aspirant.

While talking to Greater Kashmir, Neha Sharma, an aspirant, said, “Everyone knows the importance of money in student life. Due to this clash I have wasted Rs 1000, which I paid as examination fees. It is a big amount for me and other students as well. Being state level exams, the boards should change the dates to accommodate us.”

On being contacted by Greater Kashmir, Arun Choudhary, Chairman PRB, said, “We had asked the University authorities if there was any other examination scheduled for June 24 and they had informed us that there isn’t. We cannot change our schedule as there are a lot of logistics that go into holding an examination of this stature.”

Similarly, Chairman BOPEE Ashraf Bukhari, said, “We cannot change the dates as we have a schedule to be followed. We had notified well in advance and there is nothing that we (BOPEE) can do now.”
