Bus stand shopkeepers protest against JDA, observe bandh

The entire market at General Bus Stand Jammu today remained closed as shopkeepers held a strong protest demonstration against yestreday’s anti-encroachment drive of Jammu Development Authority (JDA) during which the tin sheds and other encroachments were removed.

The shopkeepers, yesterday also, had protested against the JDA’s drive maintaining that no prior notice was served to them before launching the drive.

The shopkeepers termed JDA’s action as a harassment.

They alleged that without prior notice, JDA team assisted by the local police started removing their sheds thus causing heavy losses to them.

During yesterday’s drive, the bus stand shopkeepers protested strongly. Some cops and traders were injured during the drive as   shopkeepers objected to the drive                                                     strongly.

The bus stand shopkeepers observed bandh in protest against the JDA and demanded action against the officials responsible for giving orders to remove sheds.
