The infighting within the state Bhartiya Janta Party after the recent ministerial reshuffle and appointment of new state president came out in the public today when former minister Chander Parkash Ganga accused the former state president of hatching a conspiracy to become a minister.

The occasion was a function organised at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, to welcome the new state president Ravinder Raina.

Addressing a gathering of party workers, ministers, MLAs, MLCs and other senior leaders, Ganga, without naming Sharma, said he and Lal Singh were sent to Rasana by Sharma under a well thought out plan as he wanted to become a minister.

Lal Singh and Ganga were forced to resign as ministers by the party following their participation in the rally at Rasana held in support of the rape and murder accused.

Ganga said that Sharma was in a hurry to become minister and was less interested in discharging duties as party president.

“Don’t be in hurry to become minister as our former president and now a minister Sat Sharma was, but work hard to strengthen the party and the organization,” Ganga told the new president Ravinder Raina during his address.

Ganga’s outburst in the public shocked all. Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, PHE Minister Sham Chowdhary, new president Ravinder Raina, party general secretary (organization) Ashok Koul, former minister Priya Sethi, HUD minister Sat Sharma, MLAs, MLCs and all senior leaders were all shell shocked and started looking at each other.

Since their ouster from the ministry, both Ganga and Lal Singh have been saying that they were sent to Rasana by Sat Sharma. Lal Singh even demanded that Sat Sharma should also resign.

Later, in his address, party state general secretary (organization) Ashok Koul also gave enough hints that many in the party “were not happy over appointment of Raina” as new party president and that there is some infighting going on.

Koul asked all the party workers and the ministers to be disciplined and work selflessly without any expectations from the party.

“Nobody is above the party,” Koul said, adding, “There may be some more capable persons in the party than Raina and senior to him also but there can only be one president and we all have to cooperate with him in the larger interest of the party.”

Koul quickly added, “Raina may be junior to many in the party and seniors can say that he is junior to us but we must remember that the new president has been appointed by the national president Amit Shah and we all have to honor the decision and work for the party by cooperating with the new president.”

He said, “If you work in BJP and wish for ministerial or some other post with a mindset that I worked for the party but what did I get in return, then you are wrong and befooling yourself.”

He said, “We are in the government both in the state and at the centre because of the sacrifices of numerous workers who worked selflessly for the party.”

Later, Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta also asked the party workers and the ministers to be disciplined.

“Party is above all, its decisions are supreme and we have to work in discipline and for the betterment of the party, it ultimately pays,” Kavinder said in his address to welcome the new president.
