Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) on Sunday said that baseless and unascertained reporting by a section of national print and electronic media regarding the coerced stone pelting is unethical and unfortunate.

“FCIK is aghast at the role of the media houses that jump to report anything and everything that distorts the image of Kashmir and vitiates the atmosphere without ascertaining the facts,” a written statement issued by the chamber said.

“The coverage given to baseless coerced stone pelting by non-local industrial workers by a section of electronic and print media was denounced by FCIK in its administrative council meeting presided over by the President Mohammad Ashraf Mir.”

The statement said the unit holder, who was alleged to have coerced the six non local workers to pelt stones, was “in fact duped by the dishonest workers of Rs 2.5 lakh and to cover up the “misdeed” they concocted a false story to put up pressure on the hapless promoter so that they don’t have to repay the advance.
