The opposition National Conference (NC) legislators on Monday alleged that PDP led Coalition government was acting as mute spectator over what it termed as “illegal” and “backdoor” appointments in J&K Bank.

NC legislators went aggressive on the issue of recruitments and attacked the finance minister who was present in the House, listening to the members during the discussion on the 2018-19 budget.

NC MLA from Pahalgam, Altaf Wani (Kaloo) while speaking during the discussion on J&K Budget 2018-19, alleged scam in the recruitment process of J&K Bank.

“And our government is acting as a mute spectator,” he told the House.

He accused the government of planning to conduct another recruitment drive.

Drabu reacted to the allegations and told the Deputy Speaker Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, who was conducting the proceedings of the house that the member should substantiate his allegations with proof in the house.

“Do not allow the house to be turned into a spit-street. He should come up with a proof to prove his allegations,” Drabu told the deputy speaker.

NC lawmaker from Sonawari constituency Muhammad Akbar Lone stood up from his seat and used abusive language and gestures against finance minister following which deputy Speaker adjourned the house.

Lone accused Drabu of his failure to stop backdoor appointments in J&K Bank.

Leader of the opposition and former chief minister Omar Abdullah watched the proceeding silently.
