Following the recent killing of a Sikh man in Tral, members of Muslim and Sikh communities of this south Kashmir area Saturday organized a meeting at Town Hall here.

The members of both the communities expressed grief over the killing in Khasipora area of Tral. They also condemned his killing.

On January 4, unknown gunmen shot dead Simranjeet Singh son of Nanak Singh at his native Khasipora village.

The members stood together at the Town Hall, demanding an impartial enquiry into the incident. People from both the communities stressed to maintain the communal harmony and protect the brotherhood in the state.

They said that any attempts to break the mutual bond between Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus will never be successful.

A delegation of Muslims expressed their support to the Sikhs.

"Sikhs are the part of our society. Tral has itself been an example of mutual brotherhood between Muslims and other communities," said a senior lawyer Mohammad Ashraf Wani.

Talking to the Greater Kashmir, chairman Sikh Minority Front, Dr. Joginder Singh Shaan Kashmiri, condemned the killing of Simranjeet Singh and said that some elements were trying to harm the centuries old brotherhood which won’t be tolerated.

"We are the bond of Kashmiriyat. If we have to die we will die here only. No force on earth can separate us. We will jointly work to bring our Pandits brothers back," said Singh.

Singh also maintained that from Chattisingpora incident to Tral incident, Muslims have been consoling them side by side.
