The students of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) of North campus at Wadoora Sopore on Monday staged a protest against the civilian killings in Kulgam.

Scores of students assembled in the university campus to condemn the killings and express solidarity with the families of the victims.

Seven youth were killed and scores sustained injuries in a blast which occurred after the gunfight between the militants and the forces ended at Laroo Kulgam on Sunday.  “Our innocent brothers are being killed, our houses being ransacked and our women folk is being harassed. Despite all the atrocities being committed at us the Government of India is acting as a mute spectator,” the students said. Meanwhile, Sopore town observed a complete shutdown on Monday against the Kulgam killings. All shops, business establishments and petrol pumps remained shut and public transport was off the roads.
